General Surgery

The Department of General Surgery at Chittoor is the backbone of the Surgical work that is continuously evolving. The CMC Vellore, Chittoor Campus is growing fast and along with that, the variety of work that is being done in the department is expanding.

It is not only the advanced work in minimally invasive and laparoscopic surgery that is readily available but is grounded on the whole bouquet of basic general surgery which deals with Gastrointestinal, Urological, Head Neck and Breast, Plastic, Vascular, Hepatobilliary, Oncology and reconstructive surgery.

It is not just the job of doing surgery, but the support and backing that the department gets from the other departments of Anesthesia, Medicine and the High Dependency Unit in dealing with patients who need further support.

The infrastructure of five fully furnished and state of the art operating theatres with the ever increasing backup of instruments and equipment help in getting the best of results.

Most of all, the unit has a very close and well knit relationship with the departments in the mother hospital to make sure that we are able to offer the best to our patients being supported by the latest advances in medical and surgical practices. This is specially of value in those in those patients suffering from cancer where cases are discussed in a forum where all professionals from the modalities of Surgery, Oncology, Radiotherapy sit together and plan the treatment of any patient who requires the best of all in teamwork to get the best results.

It is in this atmosphere that we believe that we are doing the best for our patients realizing the rising cost of healthcare and trying to provide the best of care without compromising the patient on added burden of finances.
